Elite Insulated Buildings Withstand Hurricane Lili

After wreaking havoc along the Louisiana coast, Hurricane Lili moved inland into the state causing millions in damages and disrupting the lives of thousands. Step-Ko Products and Elite Buildings had provided three metal insulated meter station buildings for Bayou Engineering for the Cal Pine Acadia project.

How did the buildings hold up in the storm?

After the weather subsided, Byron Stephens with Step-Ko Products visited the site. The three 12-feet x 21-feet buildings, designed to handle 125 mph winds, had safely withstood winds in excess of 100 mph as measured by the local weather site. All of the buildings showed they could handle the storm. Local pipeline field personnel and Bayou Engineering Co. engineer George Breaux felt the Elite Building performed exceptionally well. The middle of the hurricane passed right over the location. One of the buildings, a class 1 div. 2 explosion proof enclosure, contains hundreds of thousands of dollars of measurement equipment.
